SEPTEMBER 2008
When Kelp moved to Ottawa, Rolf Klausener was one of the first new people we met. Before we knew it, he had his tentacles into everything Kelp, recording as a member of Recoilers, Greenfield Main, Hoffenheimer, and backing Andrew Vincent for a short time. It wasn't long until he branched out on his own, and taking a reference from his family's emblem...the Acorn was born.
Five years in, the Acorn have grown from a bedroom computer/guitar project, to a critically-lauded indie folk outfit, touring internationally, and recording for the Paper Bag (Toronto) and Bella Union (UK) labels. This fall, the Acorn have returned to the womb to release a split 12" with their Toronto friends Ohbijou. We are proud to have them back, and salute them as they sail all round the continent, scarves, ukeleles and all.
