JIM BRYSON + WEAKERTHANS LP due on Kelp October 19th! /September 22, 2010
The Falcon Lake Incident, Bryson’s fourth studio album, and his first backed by The Weakerthans, will be released on October 19, 2010. Kelp Records is proud to release the 180g LP version of the album, complete with a collectible download coaster!! MapleMusic will release the CD/Digital versions of the album.
Recorded in Falcon Lake, MB over six days in January 2010, The Falcon Lake Incident brings one of Canada’s most engaging voices together with the passionate work of Canadian rock heroes The Weakerthans. In this collection of songs, we are treated to our best songwriters and musicians enjoying making music together in a place with few interruptions other than the occasional four-legged visitor at the door.
“It was such a great place to be and make music. Jason was cooking, Stephen went on ski excursions
and I generally talked to the wildlife. There seemed to be an real calming effect to recording so far away from rest of the world. I think when we left, we all thought ‘how did we just do that’?”
Mixed by Darryl Neudorf and Dave Draves back in Ontario, the result is a compelling and engaging folk rock record that is both familiar and unexpected.
Stay tuned to this space for a special PREORDER offer, which we’ll be announcing very soon!! In the meantime, feast your ears on the first single from the album, “Metal Girls”:
