Measha took to the Glenn Gould Studio stage Saturday night with a cast of Canadian musical luminaries to pay tribute to Lou Reed. Led by Lou’s musical director Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies), and backed by several of Lou’s band, the night featured Gord Downie, Ron Sexsmith, Hawksley Workman, Commander Chris Hadfield, Carole Pope, Kevin Drew, Buck 65 among the musical highlights of the night. Measha delivered a rousing rendition of Reed’s Transformer classic “Perfect Day.”
From Measha: “I had the most incredible time Saturday night. In addition to being able to sing “Perfect Day” with Kevin Hearn and the rest of Lou Reed’s band, I believe this was an incredible night of collaboration. The compositions of Lou Reed were like a perfume in the air, enveloping us all in celebration of his awesomeness. Happy Birthday, Lou.”
Lou Reed would have been 72 on Sunday.
