Andy Shauf’s new video “I’m Not Falling Asleep” Premieres on NPR /January 08, 2015
Andy Shauf’s latest video was lovingly edited by Mike Dubue (HILOTRONS) using old film stock from the Saskatchewan Archives Board’s Department of Agriculture produced between 1920 and 1922. The scenes depict typical moments in Western Canadian life at a pivotal point in Canadian history: a girl suffering from tuberculosis; new immigrants landing in the Canadian province; farmers clearing and working the land. The settings provide the perfect backdrop to the Regina, Saskatchewan singer-songwriter’s laid-back pining for meaning in the vast Canadian west, asking the questions anyone asks when there’s so much space staring back at them.
Check it out, it’s breaking my heart.
Andy Shauf’s album: The Bearer of Bad News is being reissued in the US by Tender Loving Empire and Party Damage February 3rd. You can pre-order the album here.
