The following comes to us from Swanny’s main squeeze, Kristy Nease. WE HAVE BEEN KEEPING THIS A SECRET FOR 8 MONTHS I HAVE NO IDEA HOW!!! And now, Miss Nease:

We’re so pleased to finally announce the release of You Got The Diamonds, a celebration of the many musics of Andy Swan. More than fourty Canadian artists & friends including Jim Bryson, The Acorn, Andrew Vincent, Chris Page, John Higney (The Flaps), Flecton Big Sky, Sandro Perri, Julie Doiron, Catherine MacLellan, Michael Feuerstack (Snailhouse) and Marker Starling have come together to pay tribute to one of Canada’s most enigmatic and elusive songwriters.

Although known in Canadian independent music circles as a prolific and exceptionally gifted songwriter, Swan’s canon (under his own name, as well as The Fling, Detective Kalita and the Michael Parks) continues to remain a well-kept secret. This tribute was the brainchild of Swan’s partner, Kristy Nease. In April, she asked 18 musicians and close friends if they’d like to contribute covers for a special Christmas gift. More than seven months later, a staggering 46 covers had been submitted by more than 40 people, a response that demonstrates just how much Swan’s heart-arresting gift for verse resonates.

With the goal of shining a light on Swan’s incredible library of song, You Got The Diamonds is available as a free download this holiday season at:
